We have already made it past the first quarter of 2012; Easter weekend has rapidly flown passed us, which is the only time of the year when there is so much chocolate around that you can actually smell it when you walk into a supermarket. I’m sure that means we can sneak a bite or two, as there really are limits to one’s willpower and endurance.

There are Easter eggs that fit into your handbag with marshmallow in the middle and then there are the really classy, gorgeously crafted ones, made of the finest chocolate available, beautifully wrapped and decorated. As a child, I was given a big Easter egg in shiny foil and imagined how long that solid egg of chocolate was going to last and how good it was going to taste. Can you imagine my disappointment when I bit into it with purpose and it all crumbled and broke because it was hollow! I felt cheated! Doing a female, of any age, out of her chocolate is not a wise move.

Anyway, when not indulging in a bit of chocolate, do remember to wear sunblock if you’re out in the sun during the last stretch of sunny days and public holidays we have left. Ah, it’s just so good to be able to kick back and relax for a few days.

Pearl™ Laser Peel treatment

If you are thinking about having a laser procedure done, winter is the most opportune time to do this as you will not be exposed to much sun during this season.  To pay your Skin Renewal clinic a visit now would be ideal to rejuvenate the skin and slow down the signs of ageing. At Skin Renewal they have the Pearl™ Laser Peel treatment by Cutera which offers predictable and immediate results with minimal discomfort and only an expected downtime of about four days. Pearl treatment is good to address pigmentation problems, blotchy skin, and can improve dry dull skin, wrinkles, enlarged pores and even acne scars which can worsen as we get older. Most of these problems are caused by a loss of collagen which happens as skin gets older.

Pearl treatment is also effective in diminishing fine lines, uneven texture and discolouration. This minimally invasive procedure renews and treats skin problems with noticeable results after a single treatment..

Unfortunately darker skin types or recent sun exposure cannot be treated with the Pearl Rejuvenation treatment.

The treatment

An hour before treatment a local numbing agent is applied to the area making the Pearl almost painless. The duration of treatment is about 20 minutes and during this time the top layer of skin is treated with pulses of light in a pre-selected pattern, simultaneously sending heat to the deeper layers of skin to provide longer term benefits. A natural protective dressing forms on the skin, due to the new YSGG laser wavelength and this protects the skin from weeping and harmful side effects. The benefit of this is that it minimises downtime. Traditional laser peels have a much longer downtime and hence this is a major benefit when the Pearl treatment is used. On day three to four, this ‘protective’ dressing will peel or slough off which then leaves new and healthy skin underneath. There is a noticeable skin clarity, smoothness and softness. Going for the Pearl laser treatment is a lot less severe than going for cosmetic surgery, which we all wish to delay for as long as possible. This treatment can also be combined safely with most aesthetic treatments and can also be used to increase the results of traditional Photodynamic Therapy, Photo rejuvenation and 3 D Skin Rejuvenation treatments.

For more severe wrinkling and sun damage, the Laser Genesis procedure is done before the Pearl laser procedure.

Summary

PearlLaser Peel treatment can be used to revive dull skin, diminish wrinkles and fine lines, reduce pigmentation and the end result will be smoother, plumper skin. Best of all it only takes about four to five days of ‘social’ downtime so if you plan it well, a long weekend is all you need.
